Did you know that it is illegal for your insurance company to raise your premiums if you were not at fault for causing a car accident?

We are hearing that this is happening a lot lately.

But in Washington state, there is a law specifically against it:

RCW 46.52.130 (e)(iii)  “Any policy of insurance may not be canceled, nonrenewed, denied, or have the rate increased on the basis of information regarding an accident included in the abstract of a driving record, unless the policyholder was determined to be at fault.”

So if this has happened to you, call up your insurance adjuster or agent and give them this citation.  Unless your premiums have been hiked up for another legitimate reason, they must reinstate your previous rate.

Pass it on!
